Andy went into the television industry straight from school in 1985, working in the lighting department at Scottish Television. At 23 he became one of the youngest gaffers on ITV network drama, working on high-profile dramas like Taggart and Doctor Finlay. Andy worked with leading DOP's, managing large-scale projects and organising large production teams.

He became a Lighting Director on many studio and location programmes before developing the skills to become a Lighting Cameraman. In 1998 Andy became a freelance Lighting Cameraman/Director. Since then Images of Light has become one of the first stops for producers and broadcasters in Factual, Current Affairs, Features, Network News, Regional News and sport.

He has excellent working relationships with several programme editors and producers. They trust him to take a conscientious, problem-solving and creative approach that makes their shoots efficient and effective.

After the shoot clients often say that Andy's footage is a joy to edit: all the shots are excellent, and all the shots are there, even those not asked for!

Andy enjoys working with directors and producers to help deliver their vision and to offer constructive comments in a friendly way! He's always ready to give support and advice to the programme-makers before, during and after production. Andy also has the skills to be able to self-direct, confident in the knowledge that he will supply the footage clients need.
